Sami Abouzahra
Sami grew up in Wandsworth and spent much of his youth in Balham while attending Chestnut Grove, making him passionate about local issues.
He works as a physiotherapist, and has experience in settings where local government and the NHS collaborate.
As a young person, Sami empathises with concerns around getting on the housing ladder. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, keeping active, spending time with family, and gardening. His priorities include safer neighbourhoods, cleaner streets, good value for money from local services, and keeping Balham a great place to live.
Cllr Lynsey Hedges
Lynsey has been a Wandsworth resident for over 18 years and has served as a Borough Councillor for Balham and Clapham South since being elected in 2022.
She is the Conservative lead for Grants, Business, Culture and the Voluntary Sector, and sits on the Finance Committee, where she holds Labour to account on the use of council reserves, cost-of-living measures, and overall spending scrutiny.
A former local school governor, trustee, and committed environmentalist, Lynsey is also a long-time campaigner for gender equality. Professionally, she works in the City’s financial services sector, specialising in regulatory development.
A keen runner, she is passionate about protecting green spaces and keeping the commons clean and accessible for all.
Dr Jonathan Iliff
Jonathan has lived in Balham for many years since attending school here as as a child. Today he has grown up committed to public service, working as a medical doctor specialising in the mind and brain at the prestigious South London and the Maudsley NHS Trust. He is a longstanding national campaigner for a common sense approach to mental health including teaching in our local Balham schools on this. In his spare time, when he's not reading a good book or running on Clapham Common, Jonathan is working to make Balham and Wandsworth safer, cleaner and better for us all.
