Wandsworth is special. We’re blessed with a strong sense of community, beautiful green spaces, unique high streets, and excellent schools.
Sadly, so much of that has been put at risk by Labour.
The Labour Government is slashing Wandsworth Council’s grant funding by £85 million in the next three years. That’s nearly 40% of the Council’s budget. But that only compounds Labour’s own local mismanagement at the Town Hall, where Labour councillors have run up a budget black hole of £137 million and plan to increase the council’s debt burden by £2.5 billion. As things stand, the council’s own figures project a council tax rise of 178% in the coming years.
We can’t let this situation stand.
On 7th May, residents will go to the polls to vote in the Borough Council elections.
As Wandsworth Conservatives, we’re proposing a positive plan to get the borough back on track.
This manifesto sets out how Wandsworth Conservatives will restore financial stability and deliver for residents, despite inheriting the worst financial position in the Council’s history.
We’re making four key pledges:
Before May 2022, we ran the Council for 44 years, delivering the lowest council tax in Britain alongside high-quality, value-for-money service.
Our candidates come from all walks of life, bringing experience from business, law, education, the NHS, the voluntary sector and more. Each of them shares a passion to make our area an even better place to live and work.
