Housing Regulator on Wandsworth Council - 26th February 2025
Wandsworth’s Labour-run Council makes people pay some of the highest rents and leaseholder charges in the country. Now, a damning report rules the council does not listen and provides potentially unsafe housing.
The Regulator’s report shows that Labour takes residents for granted and does not care:
- 5,000 homes were missing basic safety tests, with 1,800 overdue fire safety fixes. All more than 12 months overdue
- 80% of communal areas and 40% of homes lacked electrical safety checks, leaving tenants and leaseholders at risk
- The Regulator ruled that the Labour Council is failing to properly listen to its residents’ concerns
- Only 6.5%, that’s 1,105 out of 17,000 homes the Council is responsible for, have been properly surveyed.
This is an absolutely damning report and shows that despite what they might claim, this Labour run Council is failing its residents.
